Henry Herbert Crabtree was born in Yorkshire, England, in 1860, and came to Mexico as an Engineer in charge of building the docks for the port of Veracruz. In Mexico, Henry also found true love with his beloved wife, Carlota.
Carlota Crabtree was a strong and generous woman who showed her talent as one of the most acknowledged Mexican painters of her time. She loved Mexico deeply, and captured it in her oil paintings which are now respectful and lovingly displayed in the regional museums of the Comarca Lagunera, located in the north of Mexico.
